XYZ Machine Tools has announced two strategic changes to its management team as it looks to build on its ongoing sales success and further develop its product portfolio. In a further move the company has also announced that long-serving Commercial Director Keith Wilson will retire in September 2019 and the search for his replacement has already begun to ensure a smooth transition.
With immediate effect Martin Burton’s role as XYZ Machine Tools’ UK Sales Manager will be expanded to take in all of the company’s customer facing groups. As a result, Martin becomes XYZ Machine Tools’ Sales and Service Director, with responsibility for sales, service and applications support. The second change sees Mark Chappell, XYZ Machine Tools’ Mechanical Engineering Manager, take on extra responsibility in the newly created role of Operations Manager, where he will oversee and manage production and product improvements. “These two strategic changes will further enhance the high level of service and support we provide to customers and also streamline the management team at XYZ Machine Tools,” says Nigel Atherton, Managing Director, XYZ Machine Tools. “With these changes undertaken we can now start the search for Keith’s replacement.”
Keith Wilson retires from XYZ Machine Tools after 30 years which saw him rise quickly from his initial position as a sales engineer to take on the challenge of managing the commercial activities of the business, becoming a director shortly after that move in the early 1990s. “During Keith’s tenure as Commercial Director XYZ Machine Tools grew from a £1 million turnover business employing 4 people to one of £34 million turnover and 87 people and, while we will be sad to bid him farewell we wish him well in his retirement. Keith will remain within the business actively supporting his replacement to ensure a smooth transition in the run-up to his retirement in September 2019. This will be a fantastic opportunity for someone with commercial experience to join in our continuing success at XYZ Machine Tools.”
