The Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) will be held on March 15-20, 2021 in the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 and Hall 2, and the World Trade Center Hall 1. With the support of domestic and foreign machinery manufacturers, the number of booths is expected to reach 7000, and TIMTOS 2021 will be a major event for the machinery industry next year. In the run-up to the show, the organisers, namely the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), will regularly launch
online events with different themes every month. Starting from this August, TIMTOS Glimpse and TIMTOS Salon will be aired on a regular basis to assist industry players to promote new models, grasp key global market trends, and catch up with global business opportunities.

Already aired this August was the first episode of TIMTOS Glimpse, in which Hiwin Technologies Corp., a world-renowned ball screw manufacturer, was interviewed. Then, broadcast on September 10 was an in-depth report on the 70-yearold hydraulic press equipment manufacturer Lien Chieh Hydraulic Industrial Co., Ltd. (LCH). The report explored how LCH is able to create a high-quality machine tool with cutting edges comparable to that of Germany and Japan as well as how LCH hasdeveloped its patented ECO SERVO technology for energy-saving and noise reduction in recent years. The next instalment, released on September 24, will feature Buffalo Machinery Co., Ltd., a firm specialising in the development and manufacturing of high-end machine tools. In the video, a few outstanding products will be highlighted: not only its newest brand AXILE, a high-end, high-speed metal machining center adapting to Industry 4.0, but also its innovative technologies and transformation achievements developed in response to the post-COVID-19 era.

TIMTOS Salon events focus on inviting important machine tool association representatives from around the world to share first-hand information on local markets. After a successful launch discussing the current situation in the US and Turkish markets in August, the TIMTOS Salon continues its virtual trip around the world in September. Released on September 17 will be the third episode of TIMTOS Salon, in which Mr. V. Anbu, Chairman of the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) will share the current situation and trends in the Indian manufacturing industry under the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, India is the third largest export destination for Taiwan’s machine tools. Mr. V. Anbu will also address the opportunities and impacts that the Indian government will bring to the machine tool industry after the implementation of the emission standard Bharat Stage (BS) IV policy. From October to November, TIMTOS   and TIMTOS Glimpse will continue to release new videos on Thursdays from the 2nd to the 4th week of each month TIMTOS 2021 strives to break through the restrictions posed by the pandemic and strengthen the integration of online and offline resources. Aside from using the TIMTOS Salon and TIMTOS Glimpse series of videos as warm-up activities, TAITRAhas been intensively preparing for a TIMTOS online exhibition to meet the needs of exhibitors and buyers. Expected to be launched soon, the online version of TIMTOS will debut in an O2O mode together with the  physical exhibition.
