Honda announced important next steps in the establishment of its EV Hub in Ohio, which will lead the company’s journey to a North American electrified future. Honda announced in October 2022 that it would invest $700 million to retool several of its existing auto and powertrain plants in order to establish the new EV Hub in Ohio in order to prepare for battery electric vehicle production* in 2026. The Marysville Auto Plant (MAP), where Honda began auto production in the United States in 1982, will be Honda’s first auto plant in the United States to transition to EV production.
Honda will transform its Marysville Auto Plant (MAP), East Liberty Auto Plant (ELP), and Anna Engine Plant (AEP) as part of the EV Hub in Ohio, paving the way for the start of EV production in North America. This EV Hub will be critical in developing the company’s knowledge and expertise in EV production, which will be shared across Honda’s entire North American auto production network in the coming years, even though many Honda plants will continue to produce gasoline-powered vehicles.
Each Honda auto manufacturing facility in North America will play an important role in Honda’s electrification strategy. The following are important next steps involving several Honda production facilities in the United States. Importantly, Honda expects to maintain employment stability across all locations during the transition’s critical next steps.
