JCB is creating hundreds of new jobs at its UK factories as demand for construction equipment continues to soar.

The manufacturer has launched a recruitment drive for 450 agency employees to work on the shop floor at its factories in Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Wrexham after seeing a sharp rebound in business following the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the same time, the company is offering permanent contracts to an additional 400 agency staff which have clocked up more than one year’s service at the company. This will include assemblers, welders, fabricators and CNC machinists.

The recruitment drive comes just a month after JCB announced it was recruiting more than 400 additional agency workers and confirmed that it was giving permanent contracts to more than 300 existing agency employees from April 1.

JCB chief operating officer Mark Turner said: “The rebound following the Covid-19 pandemic continues to gather pace and even in the space of a month since we started recruiting, we now need a further 450 shop floor employees.

“The creation of a total of 850 jobs this year is very good news for our business and for the areas where we operate. It’s also great news that this year we will give permanent JCB contracts to more than 700 agency employees, starting this month.”
